I graduated from university and stayed home for a year waiting for internship. I felt stuck living off my parents and getting news of a how my classmates had started their internship and were making over a 100k. I felt like a failure and sank into depression. 

Then it happened for me. I got an internship offer and moved into a new city. My parents paid for everything including my underwear because I was flat broke. I felt a little ashamed of myself for living off my parents even after graduating from a private university.

In my first month after leaving home, I didn’t want to call my parents whenever I needed money so I was desperate to start building my online business to make money before I received my first salary. This made me start my business before I even knew it was a thing. I had no help, did a lot of free work for people who found excuses not to pay, charged less than quarter of what I deserved because I didn’t know how much other virtual assistants where charging. And quite frankly, over worked myself for almost nothing.

Through trial and error, I signed my first retainer client one month later and it has been wonderful! I didn’t have terrible experiences and lost money because I didn’t want to learn, but because the VAs in Nigeria were not only hard to find, but unwilling to share their secrets.  It goes without saying that I didn’t have 350K ($997) to sign up for courses by VAs abroad. Now, I lots of questions from people about how I make money online. It’s tedious to teach everyone individually.
